DGM D/L Costs...:: Posted by ttrocc7007 on December 06, 2006
"As a point of financial interest, only one of the DGM Live downloads has so far recouped, and David Singleton estimates that, perhaps, in another 6 years our investment of time, energy & money may show a dividend. "
I find this terribly dificult, if not impossible to believe and accept as fact.
Two possible responses:
1. I find this difficult to believe as well and, as Mr. ttrocc doesn’t pay our bills, it’s less terrible for him than for both David Singleton & myself.
2. It’s clear that Mr. ttrocc doesn’t run a small company of any kind and, specifically, a small independent music company using new technology, in a rapidly changing industry, serving a minority niche market, where piracy & theft is a norm.
A third possible response is that I don’t, this morning, have time or inclination to explain in detail the operation of DGM Live, which is a success. Success, in this sense, is that DGM Live covers its own operating costs (that is, by running fast upon the spot, it stays where it is). The earlier version was that DGM ran fast upon the spot to slide backwards, and be pushed forwards by the VHRHL (through loans & working without pay). I still don’t get paid, so perhaps I should look on it as a hobby.
Another comment on the Guestbook:The ’Soundscapes’ are nice, but they rarely sound like guitar.
Two possible responses:
1. Perhaps that’s because Soundscapes aren’t meant to sound like a guitar?
2. My electric guitar sounds very nice, but it rarely sounds like an acoustic guitar either.
And, as Soundscapes aren’t meant to sound like a guitar, and don’t, I guess that’s another success to celebrate this morning.
22.13 The Sistery Person arrived this morning in her hire car. She had driven all the way from Heathrow without getting lost. This is another success of the day, and sufficient cause for celebration. Something like, on the scale of a lunar landing.
This evening a Bredonborough pal joined us for a most enjoyable socialising.
